Dua for Refuge from Laziness
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-’ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-haram, wal-bukhl, wa a’udhu bika min ‘adhabi-l-qabr, wa min fitnati-l-mahya wal-mamat.
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, from cowardice and old age, and from stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death."
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
Dua for Strength and Reliance
"O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help, rectify all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye."
(An-Nasa'i, Al-Hakim)
Hadith on Diligence
Al-mu'minu al-qawiyyu khayrun wa ahabbu ila Allahi min al-mu'mini al-da'if, wa fi kullin khayrun, ihris 'ala ma yanfa'uka, wasta'in billahi wa la ta'jiz.
"A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in both. Be keen to do what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be helpless."
(Sahih Muslim)
Hadith on Overcoming Laziness in Prayer
Ya'qidush-shaitanu 'ala qafiyati ra'si ahadikum idha huwa nama thalatha 'uqadin, yadribu 'ala kulli 'uqdatin makanaha: 'Alayka laylun tawilun farqud.' Fa in istaiqadha fadhakarallaha, inhallat 'uqdatun, fa in tawadda'a, inhallat 'uqdatun, fa in salla, inhallat 'uqdatun, fa asbaha nasheetan tayyibal-nafsi, wa illa asbaha khabeethal-nafsi kaslan.
"Satan ties three knots at the back of the head of each of you when he goes to sleep, striking each knot and saying, 'You have a long night, so sleep!' If he wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. If he performs ablution, a second knot is undone. If he prays, a third knot is undone, and he wakes up in the morning feeling active and with a good soul; otherwise, he wakes up with a bad soul and feeling lazy."
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
